Starting tomorrow, iOS 11 phones are banned from using “WhatsApp

The WhatsApp application announced that it will stop working, starting tomorrow, Monday, October 24, 2022, on smartphones running iOS 10 and iOS 11. These phones will not be able to get updates or upcoming features.


Meta, the owner of the global messaging app, said that among the phones that will also be discontinued: are iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C. According to  The Economic Times.

Users must update their smartphones to the latest version of their operating system if their phones are not under automatic update.

The Whatsapp Help Center also clarified that iPhone users will need iOS 12 or later to continue using the app, or Android 4.1 or later.

To find out your phone’s operating system: You have to go to the Settings menu and choose “About phone” to find out the version, and if there is an update option available, click on it, so that you can continue to use WhatsApp.
